Why is it important to stop getting up to urinate?

Are you tired of nights interrupted by frequent trips to the bathroom? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Getting up one or more times to urinate may seem trivial, even inevitable. Yet, it can disrupt your sleep more than you imagine… especially REM sleep, which is so crucial for our mental and physical well-being. So why does this habit disrupt our nights so much, and how can we regain truly restful sleep? We’ll explain.

REM sleep – the unsung hero

This phase of sleep acts as a    regulatory center    for our nights. It improves memory, stabilizes our mood, and helps us manage our emotions. In short, it’s when our brain organizes things.

But that’s not all: during REM sleep, our bodies produce an important hormone,    ADH (antidiuretic hormone)   . Its role? To reduce urine production at night, or more precisely, to avoid… the need to go to the bathroom.

The problem    : When our sleep is disrupted (stress, unstable habits, exposure to screens, etc.), this hormone is secreted in smaller amounts. The result:    the bladder functions as if it were daytime   , forcing us to get out of bed.

Why getting out of bed night after night is a bad idea
