Part 1

A thoughtful billionaire noticed a crying girl on the street. Around her neck hung a necklace that had been lost for years. He ran to her with trembling hands and asked, “Where did you find this?” The girl, Vera, squeezed him tightly and backed away. “Don’t touch it. It’s Daddy’s necklace.”

The billionaire froze. His chest tightened, and for a moment, the world seemed to stop. Daddy’s necklace. Who was this child, and how had he come into possession of something that belonged only to him?

Years ago, Isabella was a beautiful young woman with a kind heart. She lived in a small rented room with her best friend, Esther. Life wasn’t easy for them. Isabella struggled to find stable work and often went to bed hungry. Yet, she refused to give in to despair. She often said, “One day, my story will change.”

One beautiful morning, Isabella woke up early, full of hope. She had a job interview at the hotel. Esther hugged her warmly and prayed for her success. “Shine brightly, Isabella! I know you’ll get the job.”

Dressed in her best clothes, Isabella went to her interview. After numerous questions, she was told, “Congratulations, you got the job.” Filled with relief and joy after months of disappointment, she returned home and hugged Esther tightly.

That evening, Esther insisted they celebrate. “Let’s go clubbing tonight,” she said. “Just for fun. You deserve it.” Isabella hesitated, but finally agreed. They got dressed and went to one of the city’s most popular nightclubs.

The club was filled with loud music, flashing lights, and laughter. That same evening, in another part of town, Kelvin, a 33-year-old millionaire, sat alone in his car, tears streaming down his face. He was a successful man, wealthy, respected, and handsome, but deeply hurt. His partner had betrayed him, stealing company funds and fleeing, leaving him to face the consequences. Distraught and despondent, he drove to a nightclub and began drinking heavily to try to numb the pain.

Later, his colleagues helped him to a private apartment above the club. He could barely walk. His eyes were red, and his thoughts were chaotic.

Downstairs, Isabella, dressed in a simple black dress, was starting to feel unwell. She had taken a strong painkiller, which now made her drowsy and weak. She touched Esther’s shoulder. “I need to lie down. I’m feeling dizzy.”

She quietly climbed the stairs, looking for a place to rest. She noticed the hotel room door ajar. The room was dark and quiet. Assuming no one was there, she stepped inside, lay down on the bed, and immediately fell asleep. She had no idea it was Kelvin’s room.

A few minutes later, Kelvin entered the apartment, stunned. Seeing Isabella lying on the bed, he assumed she had been sent to comfort him. Neither of them spoke. In their confusion, drunkenness, and weakness, they surrendered to intimacy.

The next morning, Isabella woke up dizzy. The room was silent. The man had disappeared. Shocked and disoriented, she stood up. A beautiful gold necklace lay next to her pillow. It looked valuable and had the inscription “K. Williams.” She didn’t know who the man was, but instinctively she kept the necklace. She also found some money on the table. Tears welled in her eyes. “What happened to me last night?” she whispered.

She quickly dressed and hurried home. Esther was worried. Isabelle couldn’t speak; she simply hugged her friend and cried.

A month later, Isabella began experiencing constant weakness and nausea. Concerned, she went to a nearby clinic. After running a few tests, the nurse returned with a gentle smile. “Congratulations. You’re in your first month of pregnancy.”

Isabella froze. “What?” she muttered.

“Yes, you’re pregnant.”

Overwhelmed by emotion, she returned home and collapsed on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. “I’m going to have a baby,” she repeated. “But how will I take care of it? I don’t even know who the father is. I haven’t seen his face.”

She placed her hand on her stomach and cried out in despair, “God, why me? I have no money. I have no parents. I just started working. Why now?”

Esther came in and, seeing his distress, ran to him. “What happened?”

“I’m pregnant,” Isabella whispered.

Esther stared at her, stunned. Isabella slowly recalled everything: the party, the nightclub, the dizziness, waking up in an unfamiliar room, the necklace, the money. She pulled out a gold necklace engraved with the words “K. Williams.”

After a long silence, Esther said quietly, “We have to get back to that club. Someone must know something.”

Though hesitant, Isabella agreed. They returned the next day. The club had been quiet during the day. They approached the manager and showed him the necklace. He examined it and shook his head. “It looks expensive, but I’ve never seen it before.”

They questioned the cleaning staff and other employees, but no one could provide any information. Disheartened, Isabella hurried out.

“I don’t know your father,” she whispered to her unborn child. “But I promise to love and protect you. I will raise this child alone.”

She continued working at the hotel, hiding her suffering. Meanwhile, back at his residence, Kelvin was unaware of the existence of the necklace and the child he carried in the poor young woman’s womb.

One morning, Kelvin was adjusting his suit in front of the mirror when he noticed something missing. His gold necklace, engraved with his name, was gone. He searched through drawers and bedding, then asked his maid, Mary, about the necklace, but it still haunted him. Frustrated, he tossed it aside and set to work, unaware of its significance.

As her pregnancy progressed, Isabella’s weakness deepened. She suffered from dizziness and exhaustion at work. One afternoon, she fell asleep while cleaning her room. A guest complained. Summoned to the manager’s office, she received a reprimand and was fired. “You’re fired.”

Distraught, Isabella returned home and told Esther. Penniless and pregnant, her fear intensified. Yet she persevered.

Five years have passed.

Isabella, now 29, went through difficult times but persevered. After losing her job at the hotel, she found work in a small restaurant. The salary was modest, but it allowed her to support herself and her four-year-old daughter, Vera. Vera was bright and beautiful, inheriting her mother’s eyes and intelligence.

One evening Vera asked, “Mom, where is my dad? My friends are talking about their fathers.”

Isabella’s heart sank. She pulled a gold necklace from a drawer. “This necklace belongs to your father,” she said quietly. “It’s the only thing he left behind.”

Vera’s eyes sparkled with delight as Isabella placed the necklace around her neck. “Please don’t let anyone touch it,” Isabella warned.

“I won’t do it, Mom,” Vera promised.

In the distance, Kelvin sat with his father, Chief Williams, discussing marriage. Kelvin had been considering marrying his girlfriend, Trisha, but felt an inexplicable emptiness. His father suggested that marriage would fill that void.

Elegant and ambitious, Trisha dreamed of becoming Mrs. Williams. Confiding in her friend Cynthia, she shared her frustration: Kelvin hadn’t proposed. Cynthia confessed that she had faked a pregnancy to secure his engagement. Tempted, Trisha decided to do the same.

Shortly afterward, she visited Kelvin and announced, “I’m pregnant.”

A delighted Kelvin embraced her and announced that they were going to make their relationship official. He was thrilled at the prospect of becoming a father, unaware that his daughter was wearing his necklace across town and proudly drawing it at school.

One hot afternoon, Isabella fell ill. Weak and feverish, she sent Vera to get medicine. As Vera hurried down the busy street, crying and clutching her necklace, a black SUV slowed down nearby. Kelvin, sitting inside, was lost in thought, pondering Trisha’s news. Something in the child’s tears touched him deeply.

“Stop the car,” he ordered.

He approached Vera gently. “Why are you crying?”

“My mother is sick. I’m going to buy medicine,” she replied.

Kelvin’s gaze fell on the necklace. He was speechless. “Where did you find this?”

“Don’t touch it,” Vera said firmly. “It’s my father’s necklace.”

Kelvin’s hands were shaking. “Who’s your dad?”

“I don’t know. My mom gave it to me.”

“What is your mother’s name?”

“Isabella.”

Kelvin asked the driver to buy some medicine and Vera to take him home. Holding her small hand, he followed her down the narrow, unfamiliar street, his mind racing with countless possibilities.

They reached a modest house. Inside, Isabella lay weakened on a mat. She looked up as Kelvin entered. He didn’t immediately recognize her.

“I saw your daughter crying,” he explained gently.

After making sure she had her medicine, Kelvin kept looking back at the necklace. Finally, he asked where it had come from.

Isabella recalled the night from five years ago: the party, the dizziness, waking up next to the necklace, discovering she was pregnant.

Kelvin’s face paled. “This necklace is mine.”

There was silence in the room.

“I was at the Vortex Club that night,” he said slowly. “I was betrayed and drunk. When I walked into the room, I saw you and thought…” His voice trembled. “I didn’t know.”

Tears streamed down Isabella’s face. “So it was you, that man.”

Kelvin nodded, racked with guilt. “I can’t change the past, but I can fix it. Vera is my daughter.”

He knelt before the child. “I’m your daddy.”

Distraught, Isabella listened to Kelvin’s pleas to let him care for them both. That evening, her SUV drove them to the Williams residence.

For the first time, Kelvin felt peace as he looked at Isabella and Vera in his home.
