When the doctors informed him that his wife had only a few days to live, he leaned over her hospital bed and, masking his satisfaction with a cold smile, murmured:

“Do you suggest anything?” he asked coldly.

“We are reviewing the facts.”

As she left, her confidence seemed shattered.

That night, he entered Lucia’s room without greeting her.
“What did she say to you?” he asked in a low voice.

Lucia looked him in the eyes with unexpected firmness.

“The truth.” “No one will believe you. They sedated you.”

“Not entirely.”

He took a step back.

“You have no idea who you’re dealing with.”

“Yes,” she replied in a low voice.

The door opened. Carmen and the doctor entered.

“Mr. Martinez, your visiting privileges are suspended while the review continues.”
